Phone Conference: October 22nd 1. Are all children accounted for ? Retention rate in higher classes. ~10 % of the students drop out on going to each higher grade. The main reasons are poverty,illeteracy and ignorance. We and our teachers go to the peoples houses and persuade them to send their children back to school. People who have financial difficluty we take responsibilty. We help get donors for the kids. Upto 7th they make sure no student fails. They give them extra coaching and conduct re-exams for the weak students. 2. How many children are still in the area after they finish school. What do students do after class 12 ? Does school help with placement ? 10% of the students go onto do engineering, MBBS etc. These are the students who score well. 60% study Bsc,BA,Bcom etc 30% go onto professional and job oriented courses. They help students in getting jobs by speaking with their Industrial friends. They provide Computer Training, Craft Training. 3. How does govt. decide how many teachers to support ? how can we get more teachers funded ? Can we lobby ? Education Ministry decides. Mr. Ramalinga Reddy is the current minister. Govt decision is based on the economic policy. They were sceptic on getting more support from the Govt citing there were many school such as themselves looking for govt funding. The govt does not have funds to support more teachers. 4. How many children in primary & secondary school - ask for split. 1-7th Standard 456 Students 8-10th Standard 776 Students 11-12th 150 Students On asking why there was only 150 students in 11-12 and what the other students do they mentioned there is 11-12th offered in Anekal which is about 10 Km. Some of the students go there.
