Dear DR Melli, I am happy to learn from Mr Vijay's (forwarded) letter that the Silicon valley ASHA has sanctioned for midday meal programme of Deenabandhu from 2007. Can I know to what extent the funding has been approved so that I can calculate the deficit if any to which Mrs Deshponde's donation of $ 1000 can be adjusted. Out of $ 2200, 1200 dollrs is for post 10th education of the boys living in Deenabandhu. Recent most break up of the midday meal expenditure is Rs 07 for one lunch with Rice, sambar, and butter milk, vegetables, pulses or dal. This includes Oil, sambar powder, Sugar for cooking sweets once in a week. This also includes salary for the cook transportation etc. We provide midday meal (Lunch) 200 children for 200 days in an year. This will cost Rs 07 * 200 * 200 = 2,80,000-00 The cost was less earlier and now with the inflation etc and with the increase in the quality of food and increase in the number of children we incur an expenditure as above. Based on the above I request you to do the need ful. All these years we managed to meet our requirement from two or more agencies according to our need. Funds received for Midday meal are not used for any other purpose and surplus if any is carried forward for the next year to be expended for the same purpose. Any other clarification in this regard is welcome With kiind regards, Jayadev
