Dear Friends

Since April-2004, with your patronage NICE has indeed come a long way! During our first year 2002-03, contributions to NICE was 2.37 Lakhs, In 2003-04 4.23 Lakhs registering a growth of 80%. During 2004-05, we crossed Rs 10 Lakhs registered a phenomenal growth of 140%. Thanks again to all of you.

The school now houses 38 students, 04 teachers, 01 cook and 01 Administrative assistant. This academic year, we will have 30 children enrolled into the 6th std, raising the total strength to around 70. During enrollment into 06th standard, we noticed that the students lacked even the knowledge of a 02nd standard student and we had to start training them from 02nd standard CBSE syllabi. The children have been showing consistent improvement in studies, general knowledge, reading skills, sports and extra-curricular activities. The students play Volleyball & Cricket regularly and hope to compete in the local Volleyball competitions this year.

The most important milestones last year were that our school was evaluated and approved by credible funding institutions like CSIM and ASHA. CSIM donates Dal, Oil & Sugar every month since November-03. ASHA?s volunteers from Berkeley (USA) have been supporting us since Apr-04. We now have the patronage and blessings of Shri Sandeep Pandey (Magsasay Awardee & founder of Asha), Shri PN Devarajan from CSIM, and ?Ghazal Maestro? Shri Ghazal Srinivas and various other organizations like Computer Associates, Embedded Infotech Pvt Ltd, Visakha Central School, Siva Sakthi Bio Planttec Pvt Ltd, Shriram Chits, SBI Ladies Club, Pan Electro Technic Entrerprise Pvt Ltd, Smile Multi Media Pvt Ltd, Sujana Metal Products Ltd, Sri Durga Auto Coach Builders Pvt Ltd, First Counsel Educonsultants, Bibo Water and many others like you have contributed to our growth.

We also added 1400 sqft to the school building, and a thatched 500 sqft for the dining hall in the last year. The total built area is around 2200 sqft (RCC), 400 sqft (Asbestos roof) and 500 sqft (Thatched roof), and can comfortably house 75 students along with 02 teachers.

A few notable events we cherish were

On 04-July-2004, Shri PN Devarajan (CSIM), Shri Ch Venugopal Rao (Umesh Chandra IPS Trust), Shri K Prasanna Kumar (Embedded Infotech Pvt Ltd), Shri Ramakrishna Raju (Harmony Concepts) opened a new classroom block named ?Asha Nilayam?
