AVIRAM GRAMIN VIKASH SWYAM SEVI SANSTHANG HAS STARTED Non-Formal education from October 2002 with the help and aid given by Asha.  According to plan the organization (AVIRAM) has to adopt six villages.  Under the project organization has selected villages like :- Dorotoli, Jido, Urumuru, Mairlay, Hudu and Hurhad of Block Kuru, District Lohardaga and started night schools in these villages.  The basic reason to start night school in these area are that the villagers are basically Schedule Tribe, Schedule Caste and Backward class; and among them only two to three men have pass Senior Secondary Examination in last 50 years that too with the help of organization (AVIRAM)

The Report of working of organization in last six month and development are as following :-

(1)  Village – Urumuru Block Kuru, Lohardaga.

When the Night School was started in the village Urumuru, 45 to 50 students started to come to school.  Out of total students 30 to 35 student never been to school.  Almost 40 children cannot recognized a single alphabet.  At first the organization faced lots and lots of problem but now it is achieving its goas as now student know the alphabets of Hindi & English.  We are trying to send more and more children to this school.  We have provided books to children by making groups and making them aware of importance of studies.  Now the main moto of villagers to achieve 100% literacy and AVIRAM play a important part in it.

(2)  Night School - Hudu

The village is 15 k.m. from Kuru Block Head Quarter and located at the base of mountain.  The most tragic fact is that after 50 years of independence the road was constructed and was linked with highways.  Earlier in this village 80% children did not know even alphabet neither in English nor in Hindi so that at the earlier age it was tought for the organization to handle the situation but now everything is towards norm, children are showing interest towards studies.  Organizaiton had organized a sports meet on 26 January 2003 and this school stood third which show the hard work of children of Hudu.

The children now understand the importance of studies and so they started going to school with eagerness to learn something.

(3)  Night School -- Mairlay

This village is located 8 km away from Block Kuru Head Quarter.  But it is a under developed village.  50% of the villagers migrate for work in different states in October and return in June before the time of Agricultre.

When the night school began in October out of 32 students did not go to school but now 29 students know English and Hindi alphabets, can learned table, can write names, know word meaning and even learned table till 10 and know addition, subtraction etc.

The villager had shown a great interest in the field of education.

(4)  Night School - Hurhad

The village is situation 10 km from Block Head Quarter.  The night school was started here in October.  This village is located at the base of mountain.  This is basically village of Tribals.  Before starting of Night school 35 students did not know what education is all about and never went to a school 30-35 children know about school but never visited.  10 children can read a little bit of Hindi.

After the beginning of night school 20-25 children started going to school and education awareness is still spreading there.

The same situation were with Jido and Dorotoli.  But once the night school started there the education is becoming one of the main objective and children and their parents are now understanding the importance of education.  This could all happen due to hardwork of organization AVIRAM.

The main objective of the organization (AVIRAM) is to target on 100% literacy in these villages in 2 years and is working hard to achieve it.
