Vasundhara Project: Project Proposal" |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Vasundhara seeks funds from Asha Princeton for their "Science on Wheels" project. This consists of a mobile science laboratory housed in a van, which is accompanied by two science educators. These people visit several schools in remote villages and perform simple experiments to demonstrate scientific concepts. There are also some exhibits and display materials in the van intended towards creating awareness among school children regarding personal hygiene, public health, environment and ecology. Since August 1998, 20 schools have already been visited. 60 more schools have been booked for second terms i.e. upto March, 1999. The van visits one school a day. This is the first project of its kind being undertaken in this backward and hilly region of Sindhudrug District. The programme has, apparently, received tremendous response both from teachers and students wherever the van has visited so far. |
