Activities at the School for the children with Mental Disabilities

June – October 2002

§                  Uniforms were provided to all the children.

§                  There are birthday celebrations at the end of every month.

§                  Karishma initiated a number of activities. These include

Ø      Marketing greeting cards

Ø      Drawing

Ø      Material for exhibition at Concern India Foundation

 

§                  Regular sessions (a day in a week) were conducted by a social worker on personality development, health, hygiene, and cleanliness.

§                  Two home science students of SNDT University are placed with the school. These students are working towards -

Ø      Sharpening skills of children in craft, drawing etc

Ø      Preparation of material to be exhibited at Concern India Foundation

§                  There was a one day dental check-up which included actual check-up, provision of necessary medicines, referral services where treatment is needed, creation of awareness on dental care and follow – up.

§                  The children participated in annual function of Each One Teach One, in which the senior students performed a dance (photograph below).

§                  The children participated in the function of S.R Foundation, in which the younger group performed a dance. (Photograph below)

 

§                  Participated in a competition conducted by OASIS, an environment education organization, and performed a dance number.

 

§                  A group of students regularly attends computer training at Sion Computer Center of Each One Teach One. There are six students in a group.

§                  Ms. Shampa Roy, an expert on Individualized Education Programs, conducted an orientation session for the teachers of the school.
