Odanadi Seva Samsthe had sent two of its enthusiastic teachers for the camp conducted on the subject of "Teaching science in simple methods" organised by Swami Vivekananda Science Training centre from 12.03.03 to 13.03.03. The two teachers represented Odanadi are Mrs. Thrishala Devi and Ms. Asha K.V.

The training taken by our teachers and in turn their teachings to their students is presented to you as follows.

Summary of the teachers’ report:

Self introduction among the teachers of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka along with a short discussion about the education system and activities in the respective states.

There was a discussion about the teachers’ involvement with their students about their experience in the field of education and simple methods of teachings. The resource persons like Mr. Girish Kumar and Mrs. Mamatha explained about the following aspects:

  1. Activity of Teaching children.
  2. Education to the children about the uses of science and utilisation of things.
  3. Uses of words, pictures and energy.
  4. Knowledge was provided about the happenings of science through the use of sense organs.

It was helpful in relation to the above mentioned points in bringing a change in the educational method of the children and attitude towards education.

Simple methods of technique were demonstrated

For e.g. properties of magnet. Air pressure

Uses of sense organs

Uses of sports and games.

Impact of the teachings on the children:

A lot of changes were noticed among the children, especially mentally ill and children denied of education, when the learnt methodologies were taught to them.

Many children have been implemented by the teachings and were attending the teaching sessions without much pressure.

The children showed their curiosity to learn much more by way of asking questions. (such as to what, why, how, for which and what after this?)

Total Summary:

The teaching methodology has been a successful and comprised of qualitative games, games filled with fun and joy, realities of life, result oriented science teachings through simple methods. The teachers are also ready to teach much more experiments of science.

The children are also excited and thrilled to know more. In this connection, for the children of the organization (about 500 beneficiaries in future) a simple science lab is being planned to have. The construction cost of the lab along with the building expenses is expected to be Rs. One lakh. We are trying to mobilize funds from friends, well wishers and people interested in our organization. We also expect you to provide science related books and lab equipment in this regard.

 

 

 

 

 

Final aim:

Finally we aim at the alround development of children by teaching them through simple methods, simple science, providing awareness towards environment, other child related issues.
